Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has unveiled plans to launch a national housing and mortgage finance programme aimed at building 150,000 housing units in its first phase.

The scheme, to be implemented in partnership with the state, banks and the private sector, is intended to address the country’s housing shortage and expand home ownership.

Speaking during a national dialogue on housing and mortgage finance, Dbeibah said the issue had moved beyond a service matter to become an economic and social challenge affecting the stability of Libyan families. He called for a long-term national policy instead of piecemeal solutions.
