The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced the conclusion of the fifth meeting of the 4+4 mini-committee, tasked with addressing the first two steps of the political roadmap, confirming that participants agreed to establish a working group to draft the final agreement ahead of its signing at the committee’s next meeting, scheduled for next week. The decision follows what the mission described as “important” understandings reached during the consultations.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, UNSMIL said the meeting was held on Monday at its office in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, in what it described as a positive and constructive atmosphere. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the understandings reached during previous sessions and completed discussions on all outstanding issues within the UN-facilitated dialogue process.

The mission added that participants agreed to form a working group from among the committee’s members, with UNSMIL’s support, to prepare the final text of the agreement, which is expected to be signed during the committee’s next meeting scheduled for next week.
